RACE & THE MEDIA IN THE UNITED STATES

THAT IS HOW WE CAN PUT A STOP ON RACISM IN OUR AMERICAN COUNTRY
'RACE & THE MEDIA IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Over time until the present time, most work on race and the Media has concentrated on the representation of black men and women. This has partly been because there is a strong African American counter-culture which provides viable alternative world models and demands that they are represented. For instance, I Want to use a few of successful actors of colord people as an example, such as Denzel Washington, Whoopi Goldberg, Laurence Fishburne, Angela Bassett, and Morgan Freeman and tons of some other well known black actors in a diversity of roles has meant that black characters in movies and on television are no longer 'stock' types. However, there are many negative representations of black people, portrayals which seem deliberately designed to inflame the fear and hatred of some other cultures which include Asian, Hispanic, Native Americans, Latin Americans, and Indians, Pacific Islander etc..
The world’s attention is now being paid to the representation of other ethnic groups, such as Asian Americans and Latinos, not to mention Black/African-Americans who represent a much larger proportion of the United States population then their television coverage would actually suggest. The representation on race in the Media seems to consist of the same kind of rigid stereotypes that constitute gender portrayal. However, stereotyping of race is seen as more harmful than stereotyping of gender, as media representation may constitute the only experience of contact with a particular ethnic group that an audience may have...Racial stereotypes are often based on people of different cultures including people with different ethnic backgrounds.
MASS MEDIA AND RACE IN AMERICA
Mass Media have have played and still continue to play a major crucial role in the way discrimination perceive people of colord, especially African American. As a result of overwhelming media has that always intention focusing on crime, such as drug use, gang relation, violence, and other form of anti-social behavior among African Americans, according to what Stephen Balkaran the "media have fostered a distorted and and pernicious public perception of African American"
Myself as a black man but I was not born in Amrica I see myself fited in the same category as African Americans because that is how the American society views me. Growing up in Haiti which is concidered one of the most poor countries in the Northern Hemispher makes me realize what it is like to be a minority. When I was in Haiti, rather than racism, I had witnessed prejudism .....Haiti is one of the countries in the Western Caribbean Islands that has what we call Cast system. there, we find High Class in Poor Class the middle class is so little. As far as Racism is concerned, I did not have a better idea what racism was all about until I came to The United States to actually see the whole picture.
The Media Have divided the working class and stereotyped Young African Americans including other minoritiy groups with other black backgrounds as gansters or drug dealers. As a result of such treatment, The Media have crushed youth's prospects for present , future and advancement employment, The Media have mostly focused on the negative aspects of the black communities that are dealing with drug use, criminal activity, and welfare ABUSE while maintaining the cycle of poverty that the elite wants.
The history of African Americans including other ethnic groups in America is a centries old struggle against oppression and discrimination. The media have played lots of roles in perpetuating the effectss of this historical oppression and contributing to African American continuing status as second class citizens. In addition to that, White America has suffered from a deep uncertainty as to who African Americans really are.
